Nothing can beat the Medela Breast Pump. It is a superbly built breast pump. I have used it for three of my children, and I used it for over a year for my last baby. As an exclusive pumper, the Medela Breast Pump had to withstand a lot of work.
It travels very well. It’s a bit large and bulky, but it allows you to put about 4-4 oz. bottles into the cooler side of the breast pump. It holds your milk collection kit, your plug adapter, a battery pack, and a car adapter.
I love how Medela includes so many different ways to power your breast pump. The car adapter is wonderful. We often travel to my parents-in-law on weekends, and with a 3 hour drive, breast pumping in the car was a must, and it was so easy to do.
The battery pack is also really good. I thought that using the Medela Breast Pump with the batteries may slow the breast pump down, but not at all. You could not even tell the difference.
The suction is VERY good. I was able to breast pump from 14-16 ozs. with each breast pumping session. You can control both the power of the suction and the speed. You have to experiment with both, and not be too impatient. As I have found, you can hurt yourself pretty bad if you breast pump too hard too quickly.
The Medela Breast Pump is also very quiet. If you are in a room with a baby, you might initially think that it is a little loud, but it really is quite quiet. After just a few moments you won’t even notice the sound. If you start the breast pump out very slow, then the sound is very low. Then you just need to turn up the speed of the suction as you are pumping.
As far as cleaning, it is a breeze. It is a dark bag, so you can see the milk on it quite easily. However, you can wipe the entire breast pump down with just a wash cloth. Considering I used mine for three children, once I wiped it down, it still looked brand new.
The Medela Breast Pump does have lots of parts to clean. I found that I had to wash most of my parts just about after each breast pumping session. Sometimes milk got into the diaphragm and I had to take the cover off and wipe it down. Also the little white dial on the diaphragm can get loose sometimes. If this part comes off and gets lost, there is no pumping until a new one comes in. I found that I had to wash my tubes pretty often, because they would either get milk in them or condensation. You do need to purchase a little cleaning brush to get into all the little nooks and crannies of the horns to get all the breast milk cream.
Overall, the Medela Original Pump in Style is absolutely wonderful, and it provided me with years of successful breast pumping sessions. Two thumbs up!

The Original is the best. You don't need any other breast pump ever! |

I have used my breast pump, and my two best friends have used the same breast pump. It has lasted through five kids. Never given us any major problems. |

This is a good pump. But I bought one of the newer Advanced brest pumps for my last baby, and it is so much easier than the original. |

You need to make sure to read the directions really good. It is a good pump, but it has so many little pieces and parts. If you don't clean every one really good then you pump will mess up. |

Ii' sure you can get a good new model of this pump. But if you can find a good Original, don't pass it up. You won't have any problems with it. I have spoken with friends that have newer models of different pumps, and they are always complaining about something going wrong. But the good ole classic never gives me any problems. Good Luck! |

My Medela Pump is all molded up!!! I had to throw away all of my tubing because it kept getting black mold. Stay Away |

This is the only way I can provide breast milk for my baby. The suction is great and I have been able to provide enough milk for her so far. I did have trouble finding replacement tubing but did at the local hospital. To prevent molding I would run the pump with just the tubes hooked up for about 10 min. after each pumping to get any water, milk, etc. out of the tubes. |

My name is Wendy, and I began this website as a place to have one central location for breast pumping and feeding babies. I pumped breast milk for my daughter for over a year and during that year looked around on hundreds of websites to get the information that I needed. Since then, the website has grown and there is now tons of information and great products here at GotBreastPump.com. Thanks for stopping by.
